Grant by King Sigismund I to Stanisław of Chodecz of parts of the villages of Żydatycze and Maleczkowice
King Sigismund I the Old grants to Stanisław of Chodecz, Marshal of the Kingdom of Poland, shares in the villages of Żydatycze and Maleczkowice, confiscated from the Lviv canons for failing to fulfill the duty of military service against the Voivode of Wallachia. The grant serves as a reward for the Marshal's military merits demonstrated during that same expedition.

In the name of the Lord, amen. For an eternal remembrance of the matter. Whenever it pertains to the authority and dignity of rulers to surround good, faithful, and obedient subjects with consideration and grace, and to extend the authority of deserved punishment against the insolent, rebels, and the recalcitrant, for the preservation of law and justice, so that—whether for the reward and consolation of the faithful and good, or for the punishment and discipline of the insolent—the former may weaken and the latter may grow in strength; it is customary to entrust this to writing and to strengthen it, so that it may reach the memory and knowledge not only of contemporaries but also of posterity.
Therefore we, Sigismund, by the grace of God King of Poland, Grand Duke of Lithuania, and also Lord and Heir of the lands of Kraków, Sandomierz, Sieradz, Łęczyca, Kuyavia, Ruthenia, Prussia, Chełmno, Elbląg, and Pomerania, etc., announce by the tenor of this letter to all whom it may concern, present and future, who shall have knowledge of this: that having considered the faithful services of the magnificent Stanisław of Chodecz, Marshal of our Kingdom of Poland and Starosta of Lviv and Kamieniec, sincerely dear to us, which he has manifoldly and abundantly shown to us and to the Commonwealth of our Kingdom during the present military expedition against our enemy, the Voivode of Wallachia, we, moved by his request, have given and deemed it just to give, and by these presents do give and grant in perpetuity to him and his lawful successors, the shares in the villages of Żydatycze and Maleczkowice belonging to the venerable canons of Lviv, situated in the land of Lviv—which, due to their failure to fulfill the due obligation from the said shares for the aforementioned expedition, have fallen to us and to the path of royal disposition and the making of a grant by the common law of our Kingdom—with our certain knowledge and special royal grace, and by the counsel of our advisors.
Decreeing that the said Marshal Stanisław and his successors shall hold, have, use, and peacefully possess the said shares of the aforementioned canons, with all and individual manors, granges, houses, peasants, reeves, village heads, innkeepers, plots, gardens, granges, gardens, orchards, waters, arable and non-arable lands, meadows, fields, forests, woods, groves, bees, beehives, and the honey derived therefrom, streams, ponds, pools and their sluices, mills and their profits, and generally with all and individual rents, profits, benefits, incomes, annuities, tributes, fees, honors, burdens, sowings, crops, grains, and with all right, dominion, and ownership, and may give, grant, sell, exchange, alienate, and turn them to the arbitrary use of themselves and their successors by the tenor of this [letter] in perpetuity.
In witness whereof our seal has been appended to these presents.
Done in Lviv, on Tuesday after the feast of the Eleven Thousand Virgins, in the year of our Lord one thousand five hundred and nine, the third year of our reign, in the presence of the venerable fathers in Christ there, the lords: Maciej, Bishop of Przemyśl and Vice-Chancellor of our Kingdom; Spytek of Jarosław, Castellan of Kraków; Mikołaj of Kamieniec, Voivode of Kraków and Hetman General of the armies of our Kingdom; Mikołaj of Lubraniec [?] of Kalisz, Jarosław of Łask of Łęczyca, Stanisław Kmita of Wiśnicz of Ruthenia, Mikołaj Firlej of Dąbrowica of Lublin—voivodes; Jan Zaremba of Kalinowa of Poznań, Jakub of Szydłowiec of Sandomierz and Treasurer of the Kingdom of Poland, Mikołaj of Szydłowiec of Radom—castellans; Jan of Łask, Coadjutor of Gniezno, Piotr [...] and Chancellor of the Kingdom of Poland; Krzysztof of Szydłowiec, Chamberlain of Kraków; Jan Latalski, Provost of Gniezno; Piotr Tomicki, Archdeacon of Kraków—our secretaries, and many other credible witnesses to the above, sincerely and faithfully dear [to us].
Given by the hands of the same father, Lord Jan, perpetual Coadjutor of Gniezno and Chancellor of our Kingdom, sincerely dear to us.
