Privilege of King Sigismund I for the Lviv councilor Michael and his children regarding the Piekarski Mill
King Sigismund I ensures the Lviv councilor, Master Michael, and his elder children, Michael and Anna, the lifelong and undisturbed possession of the Lviv water mill known as the Piekarski Mill. The monarch pledges on his royal word, on behalf of himself and his successors, that the mill will not be redeemed either by subjects or for the royal table during the lifetime of any of these three holders.

Sigismund, by the grace of God King of Poland, Grand Duke of Lithuania, Ruthenia, Prussia, etc., lord and heir,
We announce by the tenor of this letter to all whom it may concern. That although we have otherwise maintained the honorable Michael, Master of Liberal Arts, councilor of the Lviv [burghers?], our faithful [and] beloved, in the possession and holding of the Lviv water mill, which is called the Piekarski Mill, for the end of his life, promising namely that we shall not remove [redeem] the aforementioned Master Michael from the said mill as long as he lives, nor shall we grant our consent for purchase for the purpose of redemption, as our letters drawn up in this matter more broadly contain, given in Vilnius on the Sunday after the feast of the Eleven Thousand Virgins in the Year of our Lord one thousand five hundred and thirteen, which we maintain in due force. However, because Master Michael is highly recommended to us due to his faithful services to us and to our illustrious city of Lviv, wishing therefore to make him reassured and to make our grace toward him in some measure attested to posterity, we have decided to maintain, and do maintain and [restore?] by these presents, the same Master Michael, councilor of Lviv, and his son Michael and daughter Anna, his elder children, jointly or severally, as long as they live and whichever of them shall live, in the free and peaceful possession of the above-described Lviv mill and around it, promising on our royal word and by the power of this letter that we shall not permit this Michael and his son and daughter aforementioned, older in age, as long as they live together or separately, to be redeemed from the above-described mill by any of our subjects, of whatever estate, rank, or condition they may be, nor shall our successors permit it, nor shall we ourselves redeem this Michael and his son and daughter, the elder ones, from this mill with our own money for the table of ours and our successors, as long as the life of these three persons lasts, through the content of this letter. In testimony of which, our seal has been affixed to this letter.
Given in Piotrków at the general assembly, on the nearest Monday before the feast of the Circumcision of the Lord, in the year of the same One Thousand Five Hundred and Twenty-First, and in the fifteenth year of our reign.
