Bull of Pope Paul III to the people of Lviv regarding the appointment of Piotr Starzechowski as Archbishop

Paul, Bishop, Servant of the Servants of God, to his beloved sons, the people of the city and diocese of Lviv, greetings and apostolic blessing. Today, for the church of Lviv, then deprived of the comfort of a shepherd due to the passing of Bernardyn of holy memory, formerly Archbishop of Lviv, who died outside the Roman Curia, out of regard for the person of our beloved son Piotr, Archbishop-elect of Lviv, dear to us and our brothers by reason of his merits, upon the counsel of these same brothers, we have provided by apostolic authority and have established him as archbishop and shepherd over it, entrusting to him in full the care and administration of the said church in spiritual and temporal matters, as is more fully contained in our letters drawn up to this effect. Therefore, we command your community by apostolic letter that you receive the said Piotr, the elect, as father and shepherd of your souls, treating him with due reverence, and that you listen with humility to his salutary admonitions and commands, so that Piotr, the elect, may rejoice in having found in you sons of devotion, and you in him, consequently, a benevolent father.
