JAN DYMITR SOLIKOWSKI OF SOŁK, by the grace of God Archbishop of Lwów, together with the Venerable Chapter of the Holy Metropolitan Church of Lwów, namely the most reverend: Stanisław Strzyiński, Dean; Jakub Wierzbięta; Stanisław Dembiński; Piotr Borzobohaty Krasiński; Wojciech Perliczka, Official; Jan Herbort, Canon Cantor; Tomasz Domaniewski, at this time Procurator of the Venerable Chapter; Walenty Grzegorzewski and Kasper Starszewski, prelates and canons gathered at the general chapter. By our present letter, we wish to make known and manifest to all whom it may concern, both present and future: that we, desiring the good of our archiepiscopal table, and to maintain all and individual [estates], and above all our town of Dunajów, in proper order, praiseworthy justice, and the performance of other municipal functions – since this town of Dunajów, from its old foundation, does not have a rightful reeve who would prudently judge the affairs and interests of the burghers, maintain the burghers in good and decent order, and watch with care over the prosperity and benefit of the inhabitants of the said town, through which difficulties and burdens sometimes arise and fall upon us and our Dunajów starosta – therefore, having recognized and having had well recommended to us the prudence and skill in managing affairs of the noble Marcin Żabka, who previously for many years performed the office, that is, the stewardship and management of the estates and revenues of the town of Dunajów and the villages belonging to it, not without our benefit and without anyone's complaint; furthermore, free [and] inviolate to the law and privilege, or the laws and privileges granted by our predecessors to the inhabitants of the town of Dunajów; only for judging ordinary cases belonging by law to the reeve's office and administering justice to everyone without deceit, as well as performing other matters belonging both to the good order and peace of the burghers and to the benefit of us and our successors – we have deemed it right to appoint and establish the same Marcin Żabka, a man distinguished by virtue and integrity, well-deserving to us, as the reeve of Dunajów by our new foundation, and by these presents we give, establish, and found [it], after the renunciation confessed for eternal times. Entrusting to the same Marcin and his successors the reeve's office in the said town to be performed with full right, properly and duly, to recognize and judge the affairs of any reeveship together with others belonging to his office by virtue of the same reeve's office in the said town at the place of his residence with such authority, law, and process as is observed elsewhere according to the provision of Magdeburg law; from whose verdict or verdicts, an appeal to us and our successors shall be free to everyone. And so that he may sufficiently cope with and be able to perform this function and reeve's office entrusted to him, for the proper performance of the same and the legal duties of the reeve's office, we give and found in full, have given and founded two hides of our land, together with the meadows belonging to the said hides, on the land of our town of Dunajów, around [...] of the hides on individual fields, the plot [...] on the boundary by the Faluwek roads [...] and meadows at the place called Qualiow designated, that [...] to two [commissioners?] from our Chapter the width and length also for the certainty of the hides and meadows, the confirmation of the said hides to be measured, to the same Marcin, as now established by the above-mentioned law, his successors and the reeve for the time being, to incorporate, hold, and possess the reeveship for eternal times, with all benefits and those derived from them in any way, reserving no rents or fruits and revenues from them to us and our successors. But furthermore, we [grant] him the penalty called 'krzeczka' and the third penny from other municipal fees. Also the right and freedom to fish every week in the same way as other inhabitants of the same town are allowed to fish; also one [grinding] in our mill, in whichever he wishes, to grind grain and malt for his own use and measure, we give and allow for freedom. To the same, we also designate a plot of our land for the construction of a reeve's house, as large as it is, together with a garden at the place Dunajowce near the Ostrzel pond, situated between my manor and the Kiev one. Then also, he will be allowed to erect buildings for setting up a slaughterhouse and a brewery; however, in such a state of affairs, we reserve the jurisdiction belonging and due to us and our successors together with the Lwów chapter there, due to the right of the land and the superiority of justice. And we want it to always be inviolate and whole, so that the contemporary and each-time reeve serves and is obedient to the will of us and our successors. Explicitly in these legal matters, he shall likewise owe his personal assistance to the prelates and canons [...] of the Lwów metropolitan [church] and to us. From his own possessed hides, he shall give the manual tithe of every kind to the provost of Dunajów [...] let him give [...] in the revenues [...] of the established tithes for the performance of the duties imposed upon him recognized [...] we allow in the performance of these judicial duties, in his use of these reeve's estates [...] we preserve, until the end of life [...] and in the name of us and our successors [we guarantee] that we will not disturb him in this use and collection of benefits from all of the above, as long as he lives. In witness whereof our seal [...] and the Chapter's has been impressed and I have signed with my own hand. In the presence of the noble lords Stanisław Kozicki [...], Zygmunt Solikowski, Paweł Skotnicki, [...] Piotr Gosławski, Jan [...] and many other credible gentlemen of our court, and me, Bartłomiej Bytunowski, by the authority of the Holy Apostolic See and the curia of the affairs of this same Most Serene Lord of ours, a public notary, called to the above [and] in the presence of [...] written down. Done and given in Lwów at the General Chapter of the Metropolitan Church of Lwów on the Saturday before the nearest Sunday Laetare, in the Year of our Lord one thousand five hundred and ninety-two 1592. Jan Dymitr Solikowski, Archbishop of Lwów, with his own hand Stanisław Strzyiński, Dean Jakub Wierzbięta, Provost Tomasz Domaniewski, Procurator of the Venerable Chapter of Lwów [Seal: on yellow-red silk cords, wax in a wax bowl, partially damaged] [On the reverse:] Erection of the Dunajów reeveship
