Bull of Pope Innocent X granting the pallium to the Archbishop of Lviv, Mikołaj Krosnowski

Innocent, Bishop, Servant of the Servants of God, to our beloved son [...] Mikołaj [...], recently elected [Bishop] of Wenden [...], Archbishop of Lviv, greetings and apostolic blessing. When recently, by the counsel of our brothers and in the fullness of apostolic authority, we deemed it proper to transfer you from the bond by which you were bound to the Church of Wenden, over which you then presided, to the Church of Lviv, then in a certain way deprived of the comfort of a shepherd, by the same counsel and apostolic authority, appointing you as its archbishop and shepherd, as is more fully contained in our letters drawn up in this matter, and subsequently, on your behalf, through our beloved son Alessandro Brandano, a Roman cleric, your messenger, we were requested with due diligence for the pallium, which is the mark of the fullness of the pontifical office. We, acceding to your requests, have deemed it proper to send through the aforementioned Alessandro, your messenger, that pallium, taken from the body of blessed Peter, so that it may be conferred upon you by our venerable brothers, the Bishops of Poznań and Kamieniec, so that these same bishops or one of them may bestow it upon you according to the formula which we send closed under our bull, and receive or may receive from you in our name and that of the Roman Church the customary oath of due fidelity according to the formula which we send under the same bull; you shall use it within your Church of Lviv only on those days which are explicitly mentioned in the privileges of that same church. And so that the sign may not differ from what it signifies, but that what you wear on the outside you may preserve within in your mind, we admonish and earnestly encourage your brightness, commanding you by apostolic letter, that with the help of the Lord, who gives gifts and generously distributes rewards, you strive to observe humility and justice, which guard their servant and exalt him, and that you may increase your bride, your Church of Lviv, with careful efforts, with the help of the Lord, both spiritually and temporally.
