Translation / modern text
Innocent, Bishop, Servant of the Servants of God, to our venerable brothers [...] the Bishops of Poznań and [...] of Kamieniec,
Greetings and apostolic blessing. Since the pallium, that is, the insignia of the fullness of the pontifical office, has been requested from us with due earnestness on behalf of our beloved son Mikołaj, recently Bishop of Wenden, elected Archbishop of Lwów – whom we recently, by the advice of our brothers and from the fullness of apostolic power, deemed it right to transfer by apostolic authority from the bond by which he was bound to the church of Wenden, which he then led, to the church of Lwów, then in a certain way deprived of the comfort of a shepherd, placing him at its head as archbishop and shepherd, as is more fully contained in our letters drawn up on this matter – through our beloved son Alessandro Brandani, a Roman cleric, his messenger, we, acceding to the requests of the aforementioned Mikołaj Elect, have deemed it right to send through the said messenger Alessandro that pallium, taken from the body of blessed Peter, to be delivered to him by you or one of you according to the formula which we send enclosed under our bull.
Therefore, by apostolic letter, we command your fraternal love that you or one of you endeavor to deliver this pallium to him according to the aforementioned formula and receive, or one of you receive, from him in our name and in the name of the Roman Church the usual oath of due fidelity; and let the formula of the oath which the aforementioned Mikołaj Elect shall take be sent to us word for word, literally, through his open letters sealed with his seal, by his own messenger as soon as possible.
Given in Rome at Saint Mary Major, in the Year of the Lord's Incarnation one thousand six hundred and forty-five, on the third day before the Ides of July [July 13, 1645], in the first year of our pontificate.

Reading notes
Papal bull written on parchment in curial script (littera pontificia). At the top, decorative calligraphic papal titulature with floral motifs and the outline of a bird. The original lead papal seal (bull) is preserved on a hemp cord. The document concerns the granting of the pallium to the Archbishop of Lwów, Mikołaj Krosnowski (formerly Bishop of Wenden), through the Bishop of Poznań (Andrzej Szołdrski) and the Bishop of Kamieniec (Paweł Piasecki). Photos 1 and 7 are the catalog card and archival record.
