[p. 1 / f. 1r:] JOHN CASIMIR, by the grace of God, King of Poland, Grand Duke of Lithuania, Ruthenia, Prussia, Masovia, Samogitia, Livonia, Smolensk, Chernihiv, and also hereditary KING of the Swedes, Goths, and Vandals. We hereby announce by this our letter to all and each person concerned that there has been presented to us a parchment letter, signed by the hand of the once most serene Władysław IV, King of Poland, our dearest brother, and reinforced with the seal of the Greater Chancellery of Our Kingdom, containing the approval and confirmation of various letters of our once most serene predecessors, Kings of Poland, intact and in its entirety, free from any suspicion, by the religious fathers, brothers: Augustyn Potrykowski, apostolic notary, and Father Jan Damascen Szczytkoński [Sczytkoński], brothers of the same convent of the Corpus Christi church of the Order of Preachers in our city of Lviv, intact, in its entirety, and free from any suspicion, with a request directed to us by these same priests in their own name and in the name of the entire mentioned convent, that we might deign to approve, confirm, and ratify these privileges with our royal authority. The literal wording of these letters is as follows: Władysław IV, by the grace of God, King of Poland, Grand Duke of Lithuania, Ruthenia, Prussia, Masovia, Samogitia, Livonia, and also hereditary King of the Swedes, Goths, and Vandals, elected Grand Duke of Muscovy. We hereby announce by this our letter to all and each person concerned. There has been presented to us a parchment letter of privilege under the title and seal of the once most serene of blessed memory Sigismund I, King of Poland, our dearest great-grandfather, containing the approval and confirmation of various letters of once most serene and illustrious princes, Kings of Poland and princes of Ruthenia, as well as certain of our subjects and commissioners appointed by our predecessors, privileges of foundation, endowment, revenues, and demarcation of estates belonging to the monastery of the Lviv Order of Preachers, by the venerable fathers: Rajmund Mądrowic, lector of sacred theology, and Marian Sietecki, brothers of the same convent of the Corpus Christi church existing in our city of Lviv, intact, in its entirety, and free from any suspicion, with a request presented to us by these same mentioned fathers in their own name and in the name of the entire mentioned convent, that we might deign to approve, confirm, and ratify these privileges with our royal authority. The literal wording of these letters is as follows: In the name of the Lord, amen. In eternal memory of the matter. We, Sigismund, by the grace of God, King of Poland, Supreme Prince of Lithuania, and also of the lands of Kraków, Sandomierz, Sieradz, Łęczyca, Kuyavia, Chełmno, Elbląg, Pomerania, and Lord and Heir of Ruthenia, Prussia, Masovia, etc. We announce by the wording of this present to all present and future, whom it concerns, that there have been presented before us parchment privileges of the once most serene Kings of Poland, our venerable predecessors, and certain subjects, as well as commissioners appointed by our predecessors, by the venerable Jan of Kraków, cursor of sacred theology of the Order of Preachers, prior of the convent of the Corpus Christi church in the city of Lviv and vicar of all Ruthenia, containing the foundation, endowment, revenues, and demarcation of the estates of this monastery in Lviv, with intact seals, these privileges free from any defect of suspicion, sealed by these same kings and subjects, and the mentioned venerable Jan, prior of this monastery, implored us in his own name and in the name of the brothers, that we might deign to approve, confirm, and ratify these privileges with our royal authority. Their literal wording is as follows: In the name of the Lord, amen. In eternal memory of the matter. Since among the goods of human nature nothing is considered more worthy than memory, it is just that the deeds of men be preserved by the signs of writing and the recording of witnesses, so that they do not fade with the passage of time. Therefore we, Władysław, by the grace of God, King of Poland, Supreme Prince of Lithuania and Heir of Ruthenia, announce by the wording of this present to all present and future, to whom it is useful, and who shall receive knowledge of this letter, that appearing before our face and our barons and advisors, our religious and pious Materna, prior of the convent and monastery of the Corpus Christi church of the Friars Preachers in Lviv, humbly presented to us how the letters and privileges which he had on and regarding the square of the monastery and church, [p. 2 / f. 1v:] were lost in a fire, imploring us earnestly for the sake of God that we might deign to issue new letters regarding this square and renew the rights of the monastery. We, pitying with pious affection the said monastery, desiring to render to God a pleasing service in the hope of Divine reward, inflamed with special zeal of devotion, desiring to anticipate the day of the Last Judgment with works of mercy, this same square, just as it is currently and formerly situated and demarcated along and around its perimeter, together with all and individual structures and buildings of the same square, both of walls and other buildings of the monastery and church whatsoever placed, erected, and built, as well as those to be erected, built, and placed in any way in the future, and also with all appurtenances, connections, and all accessories belonging to this square, however long [belonging] to the mentioned Corpus Christi monastery situated within the walls of our mentioned city of Lviv, we give, entrust, appropriate, incorporate, and donate for eternal times. Which square the monastery and convent of the said Friars Preachers shall hold, have, and perpetually and peacefully possess. In testimony of which our seal has been appended to this letter. Done in Przemyśl, on the very day of the apostles Simon and Jude, in the Year of the Lord one thousand four hundred and eight [28 X 1408]. In the presence of these valiant and brave men: Jan of Tarnów, castellan and starosta of Kraków, Piotr of Radomice, castellan of Dobrzyń, Piotr of Charbinowice, under-steward of Sandomierz, Bieniek of Żabokruki, Jan Mazowszanin of Tarczyczów, and Mikołaj of Kulików, and many other of our faithful worthy of belief. Given by the hands of the venerable lord Mikołaj, provost of Saint Florian before Kraków, vice-chancellor of Our Kingdom, sincerely dear to us. Relation of the same lord Mikołaj, vice-chancellor of the Kingdom of Poland. In the name of the Lord, amen. In eternal memory of the matter. We, Władysław, by the grace of God, Duke of Opole, Wieluń, and Ruthenia. By the wording of this present we make known to all and each person concerned that since by the power of the permission of Pope Gregory it was graciously granted to the Friars Preachers pilgrimaging for Christ in the lands of the infidels that they may acquire movable and immovable goods and turn them to pious uses, as it shall seem useful to their superiors, by the advice of our faithful and from the generosity of our bounty, to the monastery and convent erected in honor of the Corpus Christi and to the Brothers of the Order of Preachers in our city of Lviv, so that the brothers of the same monastery may be able to devote themselves more zealously to devotion, our villages of Krokoszyn, Zaszkowice, Kościejów, and four houses or manors in the village of Meznich, situated in the Lviv district, together with all their benefits, fruits, revenues, profits, and remaining all incomes, with the same rights and sovereignty with which we held, had, and possessed these villages and each of them, and as these villages and four manors and each of them are demarcated and separated within their boundaries, namely: fields, meadows, mills, fish ponds, waters and their streams, forests, woods, thickets, beehives, and their remaining appurtenances and all accessories, we give, grant, and donate as an inviolable gift for eternal possession, holding, management, and use and turning to pious uses, as it shall seem better and more useful to the superiors of the mentioned Order. In a special way, however, we reserve for us and our successors the full power of collecting every year two wide groschen or four small ones from each house or hearth of the mentioned villages. In testimony of which our seal has been appended to this. Given in Przemyśl on the Sunday before the feast of St. Hedwig, in the Year of the Lord one thousand two hundred [!] ninety-seventh [= 1377-10-11]. In the presence of our faithful witnesses to the above: Teszek Nadło, starosta of Ruthenia, Wiktor, castellan of Jarosław, Ścibor Andreaskon of Halych, and Franek of Lubaczów, castellans, Chodek of Bibel, Hleb, and lord Mikołaj, our chancellor, who was present at the order for the preparation of this. In the name of the Lord, amen. Władysław, by the grace of God, King of Poland, Supreme Prince of Lithuania and Heir of Ruthenia, etc. In eternal memory of the matter. We announce to all to whom it is useful, present and future, who shall receive knowledge of this letter. From the gracious regard taken for the proofs of sincere piety and the support of pious prayers, with which the venerable Materna, vicar general of Ruthenia, together with the convent of the Corpus Christi monastery in our city of Lviv of the Order of Friars Preachers, devoted to us and dear, do not cease to invoke the mercy of Almighty God for our prosperity, and also of the most glorious duchess, Lady Hedwig, Queen of Poland, our dearest spouse, and our predecessors, desiring therefore that this same vicar together with the convent of the mentioned brothers might be able to persist more attentively in the service of God and that the construction or Corpus Christi church founded in our city of Lviv, for whose rebuilding and completion we cherish a special pious affection, they might be able to more diligently with the help of our generosity renew, erect, and just as they have begun, with the help of the Highest complete, to the mentioned vicar and convent and their successors from the fullness of our generosity [p. 3 / f. 2r:] our inn on the river Mała Lipa and situated by the road leading to Trembowla, together with the customs duty adjacent to it, we give, grant, and donate as an eternal and irrevocable gift for eternal future times, for holding, possessing, using, and eternal possession by these same vicar and convent and their successors by that right and power by which we ourselves held, had, and possessed this inn together with the customs duty with full right until now. So that this our donation may preserve a fuller and clearer memory for the future, let this same vicar with the convent strictly cause and provide that for our prosperity and that of the mentioned Lady Hedwig, Queen, and successful fortune, three masses in the said Corpus Christi church in every week of every year be read incessantly by a brother or brothers of this order, as long as we shall live and lead life in the body. When, however, by the permission of the Highest we shall depart from this world, this same brother or brothers in the same way have the duty to celebrate three masses for the dead in every week forever. If, however, the solemnity of some feast should fall in one of such weeks, through whose solemn celebration the mentioned three masses could not be completed, then on the weekdays of the following week the said mass let it nevertheless be completely and fully supplemented by this same brother or brothers. In testimony of all this and for clearer proof we ordered this our letter to be written and reinforced with the authority of our hanging seal. Done in Kościejów on the very day of the Conception of the Most Blessed Virgin Mary, in the Year of the Lord one thousand three hundred and ninety-two [8 XII 1392]. In the presence of Jan of Tarnów of Sandomierz, Sędziwój of Kalisz, voivodes, Dymitr, marshal, Eneusz of Śmiłów, Iwan of Kleczcz, and Hinczka of Przemanków, and many other of our faithful worthy of belief. In the name of the Lord, amen. The deeds of the present time easily tend to perish if they are not reinforced by the help of writing and the support of witnesses. In eternal memory of the matter. Therefore we, Władysław, by the grace of God, King of Poland, Supreme Prince of Lithuania and Heir of Ruthenia, etc. We announce by the wording of this present to all to whom it is useful, present and future, who shall receive knowledge of this letter, that appearing personally before us and our advisors, the religious Materna, prior of the convent of the Corpus Christi church of the Friars Preachers in Lviv, submitted before us two privileges of the once Władysław, Duke of Opole, and also of Lviv: the first privilege intact and in its entirety, containing the donation of the villages of Krotoszyn, Zaszków, Kościejów, and four manors in Mierzewica [Mirzwice]; the second privilege of the same duke, somewhat damaged by fire, containing certain demarcations of the mentioned villages, for the renewal and ratification of which privilege the mentioned brother Materna humbly asked. The literal wording of this letter is as follows: In the name of the Lord, amen. We, Władysław, by the grace of God, Duke of Opole, Wieluń, and Ruthenia. Desiring to keep our subjects in peace, and especially those who are devoted to God's service, by the wording of this present we make known to all and each person concerned that the venerable father Zygmunt, vicar of Ruthenia of the Order of Preachers, complained before us that they suffer obstacles from our subjects in the estates somewhat earlier piously donated by us to the Corpus Christi church for God forever. Therefore we, wishing to keep them in peace, having summoned before our council the elders from both sides, we designate the places which are to constitute the boundaries and be irrevocably kept just as we held them. First of all, starting from the stream which is in the Masiów [Masiow] forest, where the Rokitna river begins, going in the direction of Lviv towards Grodzisko Większe, everything that is contained between the bank and the bank itself of the Rokitna river, from Grodzisko Większe passing through the Rokitna river towards Kamienna Góra. From Kamienna Góra going by the Ołomak mountain towards Krzywa Lipa to the Kozie Grzbiety mountain. Then by the paved road and through Wołowe Debry up to the end of the forest, from the end of the forest to the banks of the Rokitna river. From the Rokitna towards Pieczałowe Błoto. Then behind Kalinowice towards the pond, from the pond to Mogiły Wielkie, from the Mogiła to Torchowice, from Torchowice by the wójt's field up through the middle of Chełmiec. These places are designated by us as boundaries forever between our estates and the Corpus Christi church. In testimony of which our seal has been appended to this. Given in Mierzewica on the third day after Easter Sunday, in the Year of the Lord one thousand three hundred [seventy]-eighth [27 IV 1378]. In the presence of our faithful: Teszek Nadło, starosta of Ruthenia, Ścibor Andreaskon of Halych, and Franczek of Lubaczów, castellans, and lord Mikołaj, our chancellor. We therefore, acceding to the requests of the mentioned father, having shown these [letters], with the consent of our advisors, renew, approve, and ratify the above-written privilege. In testimony of which our seal is appended to this letter. Done in KRAKÓW on the Thursday after Laetare Sunday, in the Year [p. 4 / f. 2v:] of the Lord one thousand four hundred and twenty-five [22 III 1425]. Given by the hands of the venerable Jan Szafraniec, dean of Kraków, chancellor of the Kingdom of Poland, and Stanisław Ciołek, cantor of Kraków, vice-chancellor of the same Kingdom, sincerely dear to us. In the name of the Lord, amen. In eternal memory of the matter. Władysław, by the grace of God, King of Poland, Supreme Prince of Lithuania and Heir of Ruthenia. We announce by the wording of this present to all to whom it is useful, both present and future. Since from the gracious regard taken for the proofs of sincere piety and the support of pious prayers, with which the venerable Materna, vicar general of Ruthenia, together with the convent of the Corpus Christi monastery in our city of Lviv of the Order of Friars Preachers, devoted to us and dear, do not cease to invoke the mercy of the Almighty for our salvation, and also of the most serene duchess, Lady Hedwig, by the grace of God, Queen of Poland, our dearest spouse, and our predecessors, desiring therefore that this same vicar and convent of the Friars Preachers might be able to persist more attentively in the service of God, to the mentioned vicar and convent of the said Corpus Christi monastery our royal village Ostkowice situated in the Lviv district, with all and individual benefits, revenues, rents, fields, meadows, lands, pastures, forests, groves, oak forests, thickets, brushwood, woods, beehives, mills, profits, fish ponds, fishing, water thickets, swamps, waters and streams of waters and with all and individual benefits belonging to the said village, just as the said village in its boundaries has long been demarcated and limited along and across its perimeter, in such a way and right as it is customary to make donations to other monasteries, we give, entrust, and assign to the said Corpus Christi monastery forever, for holding, possessing, using, and possessing for eternal times by these same vicar and convent of the said monastery. In testimony of which our seal has been appended to this letter. Relation of lord Mikołaj, provisor of the Poznań church. In the name of the Lord, amen. Władysław, by the grace of God, King of Poland, Supreme Prince of Lithuania and Heir of Ruthenia, etc. We announce by the wording of this present to all to whom it is useful, both present and future. Since desiring to anticipate the day of the Last Judgment with works of mercy, churches also and monasteries and their persons destined for the glory of God, so that remembering us piously, they might be able to implore the graciousness of the Creator of all for our salvation and that of our predecessors, desiring, as we should, to help in an appropriate way, the villages of Kościejowo, Zaszków, five manors in Mierzewica, Krotoszyn, and Ustkowice with the customs duty and inn near Ustkowice, commonly called Mała Lipa, situated in our Ruthenian land and in the Lviv district, belonging to the monastery and convent of the Friars Preachers of the Order of Saint Dominic by way of alms for the construction of the church of the Holy Corpus Christi of the same monastery in Lviv, from Polish or Ruthenian law to German law, which is called Magdeburg, we transfer, so that it may last forever. Removing there all Polish and Ruthenian laws, methods, and all customs which usually disturb the said German Magdeburg law, we remove, furthermore we exempt and forever release all and individual peasants, cottagers, and inhabitants of the mentioned villages and inn from all jurisdiction and power of all voivodes, castellans, judges, sub-judges, and their bailiffs of our Kingdom, so that summoned before them or any of them in matters both great and small, namely theft, bloodshed, murder, arson, and mutilation of limbs, they shall not answer at all nor be obliged to pay any fines; but only the above-mentioned peasants and inhabitants of the mentioned villages and inn before their wójt or their wójts, and the wójts before the brothers themselves or their prior or senior, who shall each time [stand at the head of] the said Corpus Christi monastery in Lviv, or before us or our general court, when by our letter, provided with our seal, they shall be summoned – provided that these brothers in administering justice would be negligent or slow – then not otherwise than only according to their German Magdeburg law mentioned shall they be obliged to answer to charges to anyone. In criminal and capital matters expressed above, to the wójts of the mentioned villages and inn we give and grant full, free, and all power and ability to judge, [p. 5 / f. 3r:] pass sentence, punish, and chastise, just as the same said German Magdeburg law in all its points, conditions, articles, judgments, and clauses requires and demands, with the preservation, however, always of our royal rights in everything. In testimony of which our seal has been appended to this letter. Done in Lviv, on the very day of St. Remigius the Confessor, in the Year of the Lord one thousand three hundred and ninety-seven [1 X 1397]. In the presence of the venerable fathers in Christ, the lords: Jakub, archbishop of Halych, Maciej, bishop of Przemyśl, Piotr Kpisz of Wiślica, Krystyn of Ostrów of Sandomierz, Piotr Kmita of Lublin, castellans, and Boksza of Skrzyńsk, master of the hunt of Kraków, and many other knights worthy of belief, our faithful dear. Given by the hands of the venerable father in Christ, lord Mikołaj, bishop of Poznań, sincerely dear to us. On the relation of lord Mikołaj, bishop of Poznań. In the name of the Lord, amen. In eternal memory of the matter. Casimir, by the grace of God, King of Poland, and also of the lands of Kraków, Sandomierz, Sieradz, Łęczyca, Kuyavia, Grand Duke of Lithuania, Lord and Heir of Ruthenia, Prussia, the land of Chełmno, Elbląg, Michałowo, and Pomerania. We announce by the wording of this present to all present and future, to whom it is useful, who shall receive knowledge of this letter, that although the care of the royal majesty should have regard for the benefits of all, yet from a special duty it is considered more obliged towards those whom the hand of the Lord has touched, and who in this world await the right hand of defense from all, so that strengthened by its generosity they might be able to devote themselves to their contemplations and piously incessantly implore the graciousness of the Highest for us and for our successors; and since it is useful for us in this world to do such deeds so that we might be able to receive multiplied eternal fruits for them in the future, therefore desiring to anticipate the day of the Last Judgment with works of piety and to exchange earthly for eternal, the customs duty in the village of Kościejów lying in the Lviv land, from every loaded wagon, from all merchants passing through it, of half a groschen of current coin, by the unanimous advice of our advisors then sitting at our side and at the request of the Lviv burghers, who reported that passage through here cannot take place without heavy and significant repair of bridges and the road, we have raised and established, and such for the church and convent of the Corpus Christi of the Friars Preachers from Lviv we have given and transferred, we give, transfer, and incorporate for eternal times by means of this letter, so that it may be collected in its entirety by the mentioned conventual brothers and other their seniors for the maintenance of the convent. In such a way, however, that by reason of this our mentioned donation these same brothers every Saturday, praying to the Highest for our health and prosperity and that of the most serene duchess, Lady Elizabeth, by the grace of God, Queen of Poland, etc., our spouse, and our dearest offspring, and also for the happy state of our successors and Our Kingdom, are to perform and celebrate one mass for the Most Glorious Mother of God, the Virgin MARY, and to this they will be perpetually obliged and compelled. Reading notes

Diploma in the form of a 4-leaf parchment libellus (8 pages) with text on leaves 1r–3v (f. 4r blank, 4v with notes). At the bottom, a silk cord preserved from the great crown seal (the wax seal itself has not survived in the photos). On f. 1r, a decorative header with gold letters. The text transumes numerous privileges: Władysław IV (1633), Sigismund I (1546), Władysław Jagiełło (1425, transuming documents from 1408, 1377 [Opolczyk, in the text mistakenly 'Millesimo Ducentesimo Nonagesimo Septimo' instead of Trecentesimo, corrected in pencil in the margin to 1377], 1392, 1378 [Opolczyk]), Władysław Jagiełło (1395, 1397), and Casimir Jagiellon (1476). The catalog card lists 1 leaf, while in reality it is a 4-leaf parchment quire ('4 аркуша').
