Bull of Pope Innocent X ordering obedience to the newly appointed Archbishop of Lviv, Jan Tarnowski

Innocent, Bishop, Servant of the Servants of God, to his beloved sons, [the clergy and p]eople [...] of the city and diocese of Lviv, greetings and apostolic blessing. Today, the Church of Lviv, having been deprived of the comfort of a shepherd by the death of the late Nicholas, of holy memory, formerly Archbishop of Lviv, who died outside the Roman Curia, we have, with the counsel of our brothers and by apostolic authority, provided for it in the person of our beloved son Jan, Archbishop-elect of Lviv, dear to Us and to Our brothers by virtue of his merits, and we have established him as archbishop and pastor of the same [church], fully entrusting to him the care and administration of said church in spiritual and temporal matters, as is more fully contained in our letters drawn up for this purpose. For this reason, by apostolic letter, we command [your community] that you, being devotedly subject to the same Jan, the elect, as father and pastor of your souls, and surrounding him with due reverence, be humbly obedient to his commands and salutary admonitions. So that Jan, the elect, may find in you sons of devotion, and you, in turn, may rejoice in having found a benevolent father in him.
