Bull of Pope Clement XI to the Lviv clergy regarding the appointment of Jan Skarbek as Archbishop of Lviv

Clement, Bishop, Servant of the Servants of God, to our beloved sons, the clergy of the city and diocese of Lviv, greetings and apostolic blessing. Today, having consulted our brothers and by the fullness of our apostolic authority, we have released our venerable brother Jan Skarbek, Archbishop-elect of Lviv, then Bishop of Morocco, from the bond by which he was bound to the Church of Morocco, which he then headed, and by the same counsel and apostolic authority, we have transferred him to the Lviv Church of the Latin rite, then deprived of the comfort of a shepherd by the death of the late Mikołaj Popławski, Archbishop of Lviv, who recently passed away at the Apostolic See, and we have established him as Archbishop and shepherd of the same [Church], entrusting to him the full care and administration of the said Lviv Church in spiritual and temporal matters, as is more fully contained in our letters drawn up for this occasion. Therefore, by this apostolic letter, we command you all that you serve the same Archbishop Jan, as the father and shepherd of your souls, with devotion and surround him with due reverence, and that you be humbly obedient to his salutary admonitions and commands, so that Archbishop Jan himself may rejoice that he has found in you sons of devotion, and you in him, consequently, a benevolent Father.
