Translation / modern text
CLEMENT, POPE XI
To all the faithful of Christ who shall read this letter, greetings and apostolic blessing. Having in mind, out of pious love, the increase of the devotion of the faithful and the salvation of souls through the heavenly treasures of the Church, to all the faithful of Christ of both sexes, truly contrite and confessed and refreshed by Holy Communion, who visit the parish church of St. Adalbert outside the walls of the city of Lviv (not, however, [monks] regular or any other chapels and altars then actually existing, and piously, whether these or any other, but only that one because of... or individual etc. visit, [where] no other indulgence has been granted) on the day of the feast of the same St. Adalbert, from the first vespers until the sunset of that day, every year piously visit and there offer pious prayers to God for the concord of Christian princes, the eradication of heresies, and the exaltation of Holy Mother Church, we mercifully in the Lord grant a plenary indulgence and remission of all their sins. This [letter] is to remain valid for only ten years. We wish, however, that if at any other time to the faithful of Christ staying there on another day of the year by the Apostolic See [...] any other indulgence intended to last perpetually or for a time not yet expired has been granted, or if for obtaining for any reason [...] or announcement there anything, even the smallest, [is collected] or voluntarily offered accepted, this [letter] shall be void. Given in Rome at St. Mary Major, under the Ring of the Fisherman, on the 8th day of March 1721, in the twenty-first year of our pontificate.
