POPE CLEMENT XII. Beloved sons, greetings and apostolic blessing. A humble petition has recently been brought to Us on behalf of our beloved son Stanisław Dochkiewicz, priest and pastor of Sanok in the Diocese of Poznań, stating that since the case and matters of the appeals lodged by the said supplicant to the Apostolic See – as he himself claims, within legal terms and legally – against the final judgment or final decree issued in the Tribunal of the Apostolic Nunciature in Poland against the aforementioned supplicant, and in favor of our beloved son Wojciech Borysławski, advocate, in which the said advocate was ultimately released from the repayment of one thousand Polish florins taken as a loan from the said supplicant, and accordingly the said supplicant was sentenced to return silver and certain jewels allegedly accepted as a pledge for this loan, as is to appear more broadly from that judgment or decree; and also [appealing from] the overturning judgment issued in the first instance before the Warsaw Consistory in favor of the supplicant, as well as from other judgments announced in the second instance by the judge of the Metropolitan of Gniezno confirming [this state], and issued or passed in the third instance, with the allegation of nullity, wickedness, and injustice, of all undertaken violations and innovations, and for restitution to the previous state (in integrum) according to law against all adverse effects, or at least from those grievances in which the case shall appear just, and that the said supplicant desires and intends to initiate and conduct the dispute in the above matters against the mentioned advocate and all others considering that they have an interest in it – [therefore it was requested] that We might wish, in our fatherly care, to entrust the hearing and resolution [of these matters] to certain upright men from those parts, holding ecclesiastical dignities, and to each of them, or otherwise assist him in the above with a proper legal remedy. We, therefore, desiring that justice be administered to everyone as is proper, and recognizing the state and essence of this case and matters as expressed in this letter, releasing the supplicant himself by virtue of this letter and considering him released – solely for the purpose of achieving the effect of this document – from all sentences of excommunication, suspension, and interdict, and other ecclesiastical censures and penalties imposed by law or by man for any occasion or cause, if he is bound by any of them, acceding to these requests, we entrust and command Your Discretion by this letter, that you or two of you, or one of you, having summoned those who should be summoned, hear, examine, resolve, and bring to a proper end the above case and matters with all their incidental, dependent, resulting, joint, and related issues, and the entire main case, in a summary manner, as is customary to proceed in benefice cases, having removed all obstacles. For We grant to you and to each of you full and free power by apostolic authority by virtue of this letter: to summon the said advocate and all others who may be needed – even by public edict, if a lack of safe access is found – to order them to refrain under penalty of sentences, censures, and penalties to him and to whom it is deemed appropriate, to declare the disobedient as subject to them by virtue of the judgment of the holy Council of Trent, to aggravate, re-aggravate, and impose an interdict, and also to summon the help of the secular arm if necessary; as well as to revoke according to law all violations and innovations, to extend all peremptory terms that have expired, at the discretion of each of you, whenever they have expired involuntarily, provided only that the supplicant [is entitled to] restitution to the previous state (in integrum) etc. according to law against those lapses of time, the authority of the thing judged, and all other adverse effects, and to do, perform, and complete everything else that is necessary and appropriate in the above. Notwithstanding the above and Apostolic Constitutions and ordinances, as well as all other contrary provisions. Given in Rome, at Saint Mary Major, under the Ring of the Fisherman, on the 20th day of December, 1730, in the first year of Our Pontificate. [Signature on the right:] J. Pizzirus [Bottom left:] A. Reading notes

Papal brief issued on parchment, written in curial script (cancelleresca). Original trace of the seal under the Ring of the Fisherman (sub Annulo Piscatoris) in red wax (impressed trace of wafer/wax on the parchment on the left side). Error in the Ukrainian catalog card: the addressees are the Provost of Kraków, Walerian Sutkowski, canon of Włocławek (card incorrectly: 'Kraków pastor Walerian'), and Jan Humański, canon of Płock.
