IN THE NAME OF GOD, AMEN.
Between the Venerable Fathers, the Vicars of the Lviv Archcathedral Church, represented by the Reverend Priests: Wawrzyniec Dąbrowski – senior, Stefan Mikulski – apostolic protonotary and penitentiary, and Kasper Dominik Rudołowski – procurator of the College of Lviv Vicars, on one side, and the Noble Magistrate, All Estates and Nations of the Capital City of His Royal Majesty Lviv, represented by the noble gentlemen Piotr Kupiński – senior, and Jan Wilczek – Lviv councilors, chosen and requested for the act of this agreement by public resolution of [...] May of the current year by all estates and nations, on the other side: a certain and forever unchangeable agreement and provision has been reached regarding the ongoing disputes concerning the 'meszne' and 'stołowe' due from the Noble Magistrate and the entire Capital City, burghers, suburbanites, villages, granges, subjects, and gardeners belonging to the city of Lviv, and owed to the Reverend Vicars of Lviv, as also confirmed and adjudicated by constant receipts and the last judgment of His Royal Majesty of March 15, 1738, as well as regarding legal costs, especially those incurred for the commission which was brought in at the expense of the Reverend Vicars in the year 1740, and which was recalled by the Noble Magistrate after filing lawsuits in the court of His Royal Majesty. From which appeals, lawsuits, and legal inquiries both aforementioned parties withdrawing, in the mentioned matters conclude the following agreement:
First of all, regarding the 'meszne': The Noble Magistrate, all estates and nations declare to pay this 'meszne' to the Reverend Vicars from year to year for all eternity in the following manner: from the entire 'łan' (hide), according to the compromise concluded on November 8, 1407 – which compromise reduced the 'kłoda' of rye and 'kłoda' of oats due from one 'łan' to half a 'kłoda' of rye and half a 'kłoda' of oats (a 'kłoda' comprises eight 'półmiarki', and a 'półkłoda' – four 'półmiarki') – and according to the last judgment of His Royal Majesty of the above-mentioned date and year, every subject settled on a 'łan' shall be annually obliged to pay half a 'kłoda' of rye and half a 'kłoda' of oats, that is four 'półmiarki' of rye and four of oats according to the current measure, containing thirty-two 'garnce'; from a half-'łan' – two [półmiarki] of rye and two of oats; from a quarter – half a 'półmiaror' of rye and half a 'półmiaror' of oats; from a half-quarter – a 'maca' of rye and a 'maca' of oats; or on whatever land a subject sits, from such he should pay the 'meszne' in grain. And avoiding the cost that both parties would have to bear in the event of a measurement of the 'łans' ordered by the judgment of His Royal Majesty – since such a measurement can be dispensed with, especially as it follows strictly from both old and current inventories of the mentioned villages, as well as from the registers of the Reverend Vicars, in which the mentioned villages, that is: Kleparów, Hołosko Wielkie, Hołosko Małe, Zamarstynów, Brzuchowice, Bithornyż, and Wolica are described in terms of location and the number of 'łans' on which the village is settled – therefore each village according to the description of the mentioned inventories and registers should pay such 'meszne' from cultivated and sown fields annually to the Reverend Vicars on Saint Martin's Day. In case of failure to pay such 'meszne' from the mentioned villages, in accordance with the judgments of the Most Serene Kings of the years 1597 and 1599 and many others, these subjects should be compelled by the Noble Magistrate by law, imprisonment, or other punishment to pay that 'meszne'. The Noble Magistrate reserves here for the mentioned subjects – from which may God preserve – years of calamity, such as significant crop failure, famine, plague, hail, war, etc., in which cases the Reverend Vicars should have consideration for those subjects, so that through the execution of such 'meszne' they would not be completely ruined in those times. And since in these above-mentioned villages there are cottagers using these same lands, from which 'meszne' is due to the Reverend Vicars, such cottagers shall be obliged to pay six 'grosze' annually from one cottage. The noble gentlemen economists, whether personally or through the possessors of the mentioned villages, declare to honestly make the inventories of the mentioned villages available to the Reverend Vicars before the feast of Saint Martin, Bishop and Confessor.
As for the 'łans' belonging to the 'lonheria', since the Noble Magistrate demanded from the Reverend Vicars that from those 'lonheria' 'łans' this 'meszne' be paid in a monetary amount, therefore the Reverend Vicars, striving for peace and for the sake of eternal mutual agreement, consented to this. From these 'łans' remaining in the actual possession of the 'lonheria', the mentioned 'lonheria' and the noble gentlemen economists or possessors of the mentioned villages and 'łans' shall pay two hundred and twenty Polish 'złoty' annually and by this agreement commit themselves to it. The possessors of 'łans' originally belonging to the 'lonheria', which they hold in emphyteusis, as well as private citizens, do not enter into this agreement, but for such 'łans' they shall be obliged to settle separately with the Reverend Vicars, each from their own possession. Thus, according to this agreement, the mentioned 'meszne' – both the villages in grain and the 'lonheria' in money – shall begin to be paid in the current year on the feast of Saint Martin, Bishop and Confessor, and shall be paid punctually every year.
As for the overdue 'meszne', which should be paid for five years since 1738 – not counting the current year – for it the Noble Magistrate from the 'lonheria', counting according to the old practice at eighty 'złoty' per year, shall pay four hundred 'złoty', which money they declare to pay on the feast of Saint Margaret, Virgin and Martyr, in the current year. The villages similarly should pay for the past five years according to the old custom, not counting the current year, for which they will pay the 'meszne' in grain. As for the costs which the Reverend Vicars incurred for the commission in the year 1740 and for bringing in a surveyor, the Noble Magistrate, compensating for this, will honestly calculate and pay three hundred and sixty 'złoty' for the same feast of Saint Margaret to the Reverend Vicars.
'Stołowe' according to the royal decree, the citizens of the Capital City of Lviv, according to their will and pleasure, shall give to the Reverend Vicars on Easter Holy Saturday [da...].
Which agreement in all points, clauses, conditions, and obligations both parties pledge with honor and faith and shall be obliged to keep, and sign this with their own hands under the seals of the Noble Magistrate and the College of Vicars, and for greater power, they register and strengthen this agreement both in the particular books of the Noble Magistrate and in the acts of the municipal court; the Reverend Vicars shall request the approval of this agreement from our Most Illustrious and Most Reverend Archpastor. Done in Lviv on the 23rd day of June in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and forty-fourth.
[Archbishop's approval:]
Mikołaj Ignacy z Wyżyc Wyżycki, by the grace of God and the Apostolic See, Archbishop Metropolitan of Lviv.

In witness whereof, etc. Given in Lviv on the 3rd day of August in the year of our Lord 1744.
