POPE BENEDICT XIV
To all Christ's faithful who shall see this letter, greetings and apostolic blessing. Aiming in pious love to increase the religiosity of the faithful and the salvation of souls from the heavenly treasures of the Church, to all Christ's faithful of both sexes who are truly penitent, confessed, and nourished by Holy Communion, who annually piously visit the parish church of the village of Rychcice in the Diocese of Przemyśl – even if another similar indulgence has been granted to them for visiting it in another way – on the feast days of the Finding or Exaltation of the Holy Cross from the first vespers until sunset of that day, and there offer pious prayers to God for the concord of Christian rulers, the eradication of heresy, and the exaltation of Holy Mother Church, we mercifully grant in the Lord a plenary indulgence and remission of all their sins. This letter shall be valid for only ten years. We wish, however, that if any indulgence has been granted to Christ's faithful in the aforementioned church or parish or at an altar designated therein, in perpetuity or for a time not yet expired, on any other day of the year, or if anything, even the smallest amount, was given or voluntarily offered for the solicitation or obtaining of this letter, this letter shall be void. Given in Rome at Saint Mary Major under the Ring of the Fisherman on the 24th day of March 1753, in the thirteenth year of Our pontificate.
