Translation / modern text
POPE PIUS VI
To all the faithful in Christ who shall view this letter, greetings and apostolic blessing. Having in mind with pious love the increase of the devotion of the faithful and the salvation of souls through the heavenly treasures of the Church, to all the faithful in Christ of both sexes, truly penitent, confessed, and nourished by Holy Communion, who shall piously visit the parish church of the Most Holy Trinity in the town called Podhajce in the Archdiocese of Lviv, both on the feast of the same Most Holy Trinity and on the second day, whether all together or individually, collectively or separately, or each of them separately, or from whom after the visit no visit to any other church is simultaneously required, and on Sundays from the first vespers until the sunset of that same day each year, and shall there offer pious prayers to God for the concord of Christian rulers, the eradication of heresies, and the exaltation of Holy Mother Church, we mercifully grant in the Lord a plenary indulgence and remission of all their sins. This [letter], effective after the first year, shall remain valid only for ten years. We desire, however, that if any other indulgence has been granted elsewhere to the faithful in Christ visiting the aforementioned church, chapel, or altar existing therein on any other day of the year, whether in perpetuity or for a certain time, or if for the obtaining, procuring, issuance, or publication of this [letter] even the smallest thing is given or voluntarily accepted, this [letter] shall be deprived of all power and significance. Given in Rome at Saint Mary Major, under the ring of the Fisherman, on the 15th day of May 1775, in the first year of Our pontificate.
