We, Francis the Second, by the grace of God elected Roman Emperor, forever August, King in Germany, Hungary, Bohemia, Dalmatia, Croatia, Slavonia, Galicia, Lodomeria and Jerusalem, Archduke of Austria, Duke of Burgundy and Lorraine, Grand Duke of Tuscany, Grand Duke of Transylvania, Duke of Milan, Mantua, Parma etc., Princely Count of Habsburg, Flanders, Tyrol etc., hereby announce by this personally signed diploma to each and every one, that after a report submitted by Our Royal Government in Our Hereditary Kingdom of Galicia and Lodomeria and after the most humble submission prepared by Our Directory for Treasury and Public-Political Affairs [in Cameralibus et Publico Politicis], we have most graciously decided to allow the village of Malechów, belonging to the current Hospital for the Poor and Sick under the invocation of the Holy Spirit in Lviv, to hold two annual fairs, namely one on the feast of St. John, and the second in place of the feast of St. Michael. On these days, everyone shall be permitted to bring to Malechów goods and merchandise serving both the satisfaction of life's needs and other trade, to buy, sell, or exchange them there, and to conduct and pursue all honest, socially useful, and permitted trade and business.
However, in order to assist the hospital and the poor, sick, and needy, we decree that the stall and market fees collected on this occasion are to be levied for the benefit of the hospital; for their proper and certain collection, and so that everyone knows what and how much they are to pay for wagons, horses, as well as other yard goods and foodstuffs, a separate tariff shall be drawn up by Our provincial office in Galicia and publicly posted at the municipal building. At the same time, We reserve for Ourselves the right to extend, limit, or completely abolish this freedom and privilege, should circumstances for the good of the state require it. Such is Our firm will, in witness of this document sealed with Our imperial, royal, and archducal pendant greater seal. Given in Our capital and residential city of Vienna, on the tenth day of the month of March after the gracious birth of Christ, our dear Lord and Savior, in the year one thousand seven hundred and ninety-six, in the fourth year of Our reign in the Roman Empire, and the fifth year in the hereditary lands.

Discrepancy with the catalog card: the card incorrectly identifies the issuer as Emperor Joseph II (reigned 1765–1790), whereas the document was issued by Emperor Francis II (reigned 1792–1835). The privilege establishes two annual fairs (on St. John's Day and in place of St. Michael's Day) in the village of Malechów belonging to the Holy Spirit Hospital in Lviv, with the fair fees designated for the hospital. Parchment document in very good condition.
