Prelates, canons, and the entire chapter of the Archcathedral Church of Lviv of the Latin rite. We make it known to all whom it may concern, that the honorable Mr. Jan Godowski, master of the carpentry craft, and Marianna née Dąbrowska Godowska, spouses, have petitioned us to grant them three plots belonging to our chapter in [¼?] of the Żółkiewskie Suburb, in our hereditary jurisdiction called Świętojańszczyzna, between three streets – one from the small church of St. John, the second from the rear wall of the Benedictine nuns, the third stretching towards the Castle Hill – formerly situated under numbers 482, 483, and 484, and abandoned by the previous owners after a fire, which, by the street running along the rear wall of the Benedictine nuns, have a total length taken from the street leading towards the small church of St. John to the boundary of the plot formerly possessed by Wronkiewicz of 15 Vienna fathoms and 2½ ells, with a width between the two streets along the boundary of Wronkiewicz's land of 5½ Vienna fathoms and an ell, from the boundary of Wronkiewicz by the street leading to the Castle up to the street towards the small church of St. John a length of 14 Vienna fathoms, and between the two streets by the street leading from the small church of St. John a width of 13 and ¾ Vienna fathoms – to the same honorable Mr. Jan and Mrs. Marianna née Dąbrowska Godowski, spouses, and their successors, the same three requested plots, abandoned after the fire and until now bringing us no profit for several years [?], in the same [stretching?] length and width, measured on our behalf on June 23 of the current year, under emphyteutic law for 40 years, to be counted from July 1 of the current year, we have granted, [...] or allowed them to build a brick tenement house on the said land and to make all other useful structures and improvements to the said land, under the following conditions: Firstly, that for the granting of such a right, they shall pay and settle in cash to our chapter's treasury the agreed laudemium of eighty [Polish zlotys?]. Secondly, that they shall punctually pay the ground rent agreed at 36 Polish zlotys annually from this land to our treasury [...] on the 1st [of July?] of each year, against receipts from the same treasury. Thirdly, that they themselves and their successors shall bear and pay all taxes, tributes, and other public duties, both those currently imposed on these lands by the national governments and those that may arise hereafter, and shall not demand any help in this from our chapter. Fourthly, that they shall not involve our chapter in legal disputes and quarrels through the appropriation of neighboring lands or the alienation of any [part?] of the granted land to neighbors – which is forbidden by this law – and shall not require its representation. Lastly, if the honorable Mr. Jan and Mrs. Marianna née Dąbrowska Godowski, spouses, or their successors should wish to sell the buildings erected and constructed on this land to anyone else, then our chapter shall always have the right of first refusal, and if the chapter does not need to redeem them, then it shall give consent for the sale to someone else, with the preservation of the laudemium for the chapter [by force of law?] payable directly by the buyer of the building. Furthermore, the honorable Mr. Jan and Mrs. Marianna Godowski, spouses, together with their successors, have accepted all these obligations upon themselves and their successors; therefore, we, the prelates and canons of the Archcathedral Church of Lviv, confirm this our right to the aforementioned three plots to the same honorable Mr. Jan and Mrs. Marianna née Dąbrowska Godowski, spouses, and their successors with the seal of our chapter [confirming...], with the express and inevitable necessary condition that if they do not pay the said rent [...] punctually every year and withhold its payment for three years, or if they [hire?] any servants on the aforementioned plots, or alienate any part to anyone, or acquire and attach any neighboring land to themselves, they shall forfeit this right, and the chapter, in such a case, having redeemed the buildings or allowed someone else to redeem them, reserves and retains full freedom to dispose of this land. Done in Lviv at the weekly chapter meeting on the twenty-third day of June in the year one thousand eight hundred and three. *allowing such a right to be entered into the books of the capital city of Lviv.
