[P. 2]
Most Illustrious and Gracious Sir Treasurer,
My Gracious Lord and Heartily Beloved Brother!
I have long desired, while sitting in Podgórze throughout this entire winter, to have the happiness of seeing you, Most Illustrious and Gracious Sir, especially since you now live not far away in Nowotaniec, the possession of which I have the honor to congratulate you on, as well as on all the prosperous successes associated with it. And since you are likely taking over the debts of the Treasurer's son along with this estate, I beg you not to hold it against me that I, too, am turning to you, Most Illustrious Sir, regarding a small debt that I have had with the aforementioned Treasurer's son for over 10 years, that is, twenty red zlotys. At that time, he took from me, by way of a bargain, a dapple-gray horse for 12 red zlotys, and while paying me the sum from the late Treasurer's wife, my wife's aunt, in Sanok, I lent him 8 red zlotys at his request. I judge by the worthy character of the Treasurer's son, my Lord, that he will easily recall and admit that this is so. And since, during the lifetime of the late Treasurer's wife, I did not ask for this trifle, so that Her Ladyship would not find out and thus take a dislike to her son, waiting until he himself would ever be able to pay, I pretended that the matter did not exist; now, however, when you, Most Illustrious and Gracious Sir, are settling his affairs, I beg you to satisfy me in this small amount and deduct it for yourself from Nowotaniec. I am asking for what is just, I have the promissory note, I ask for a reply through Mr. Strzemeski, whom I have asked to deliver this letter. And with this, commending myself to your old and constant favor, I declare myself to be
To the Most Illustrious Lady, your wife,
I offer my lowest respects,
as does my wife to both of you, Most Illustrious Sir and Lady.
Your Most Illustrious and Gracious Sir's
sincerely well-wishing brother
and lowest servant,
A. Jabłonowski,
Castellan of Połaniec, by his own hand.
Bratkowce, the 5th of May, 1767.

The Polish inventory description incorrectly gives the author's name as Jan – the document bears the signature 'A. Jabłonowski' (Andrzej Jabłonowski, Castellan of Połaniec), which agrees with the Ukrainian description (Андрій). The day in the date appears to be May 5th ('d. 5. Maj'), while the inventory records May 3rd ('3 травня'). The recipient is identified in the header as the Treasurer (according to the inventory: of Przemyśl).
