Intervention of Chancellor Jan Leszczyński with the authorities of Lwów regarding Wiśniowski's debt to Hieronim Szeremeta

Noble and Distinguished Gentlemen, Respected Friends! The honest Hieronim Szeremeta from the Sambir economy of His Royal Majesty, having suffered prejudice regarding his debt at the hands of a certain Wiśniowski, a burgher of Lwów, and having not yet received due satisfaction under the verdict rendered three years ago in the privileged decanal court, in the face of the injustice suffered humbly requested my intercession with Your Honors. Therefore, as the guardian of the laws (Custos legum), wishing that the subjects of His Royal Majesty, my Gracious Lord, live with each other in the best peace and harmony, and that justice be administered to everyone according to equality and the law, and that further petitions from poor folk do not reach the ears of His Royal Majesty and my own – I interpose my authority, urging that Your Honors, by virtue of your office, see fit to bring this verdict to immediate execution and order the defendant to satisfy fully the claims of this poor man. I have no doubt that you will not wish to expose him to further costs through delays (dilationes), taking care that also the expenses he has incurred during this time be refunded to him in full along with the principal sum.
