[P. 2]
Most Illustrious My Lord Voivode of Ruthenia,
My Lord and Benefactor!
Being entirely devoted to the affairs of my Most Illustrious Lord and Benefactor, after receiving from my master, His Grace Mr. Winarski, the hiberna money in the amount of 6000 zlotys in Prussian currency for Gdańsk, so that I might, as quickly as possible, secure a certain and reliable bill of exchange and send it immediately by this post to the Most Illustrious Lord and Benefactor; for this reason, he ordered me to seek another contractor, not trusting His Grace Mr. Zenewa, of whom Your Grace, My Lord and Benefactor, complains in the letter written by the previous post, that he did not have as much cash as Your Grace, My Lord and Benefactor, demanded of him at that time. However, keeping in mind the further course of this matter and considering that Your Grace, My Lord and Benefactor [...]
[P. 3]
rather does not postpone anything, but demands that he be admonished by Her Grace Mrs. Materówna; keeping this in mind and adhering to the order of my Most Illustrious Lord and Benefactor, in which my master also deferred to me, I first sought and inquired about a bill of exchange for those 6000 from Her Grace Mrs. Materówna. Having come to her and presented the matter, she showed me a letter with the current date, written to her by His Grace Mr. Zenewa, the content of which is as if he were to pay the Most Illustrious My Lord and Benefactor 20,000, which sum he reported should be collected from my master. Considering this and adhering to the main order of my Most Illustrious Lord and Benefactor, I negotiated about this and explained to her that readiness which His Grace Mr. Zenewa declares in his letter – that he is inquiring by this letter whether he is certain of receiving this sum which he is to pay, because if it had already been received, His Grace Mr. Winarski, my master, would know about it. I said: "But I will now pay Your Grace, My Lord, 6000, and I ask that His Grace Mr. Zenewa be admonished by a friendly letter to always pay money without delay." She then, securing herself through her partner by the receipt of the above-mentioned sum, issued me the bill of exchange in the first and second copy. This first one I am sending back to the Most Illustrious My Lord and Benefactor,
[P. 4]
on which he will pay the money, provided it is delivered. The second one, for safety – against loss or non-delivery – I leave for the next post. Having thus fulfilled that order exactly, humbly bowing to your lordship's feet, I commend myself to the grace of the Most Illustrious Lord and Benefactor, remaining
