Translation / modern text

[P. 2] Magnanimous Gracious Lords, Councilors of Lviv! Having attested to the virtues, good conduct, and manners of Iwanek Turkowic, a citizen and tailor of Lviv, I therefore recommend him to Your Graces and ask that You order his admission to the tailors' craft guild, as I hear that he is unjustly encountering opposition in this regard from the local tailors. I also ask Your Graces that his wife's father may perform his craft without obstacles or difficulties. I trust in Your Graces' kindness towards me, that my intercession for these poor people will find favor with You. I, too, shall endeavor to reciprocate this kindness to Your Graces, and these poor people will pray to the Lord God for You. I commend my goodwill to Your Graces. Given at the camp near Smolensk on May 22, 1610. Your Graces' kind friend and ready to serve, Szczęsny Kryski of Drobnin, Crown Deputy Chancellor, Starosta of Zakroczym and Kowel, by own hand, personally. [P. 3, address:] To Their Graces, the Mayor and Councilors of the City of Lviv, my Gracious Lords and Friends.
