My most dear and beloved Brother!
For this New Year and many others, I sincerely and faithfully wish you and your household the abundant gift of God and His holy blessing, and as an unworthy servant, I pray to the Lord God for it. I consider that man happy [...] who is loved by God and by men: firstly in secret, because a prudent man should always diligently and without arrogance cultivate careful concern and [...] in his bosom; secondly openly, because various people for various reasons proclaim and praise friendship. I rejoice greatly in this and thank the Lord God that you, my dear Brother, enjoy kindness and respect among great men in those parts; I wish that you may flourish in this for a long time and not forget us. My [...] lord and good friend of yours, His Grace Mr. Stanisław Lipnicki, spoke to me personally in a kind and friendly manner about your prosperity, for which I thank you beautifully. His Grace favors me, for I also greatly value his friendship and wish to cultivate it until death, out of love and memory of his famous and noble parent, rejoicing in the noble Mr. Stanisław, his son, a worthy and prudent man. I also recommend to you my old good friend, living there nearby in those parts, His Grace Mr. Jan Wojsza, who made an agreement with me that I would teach and look after his children, and promised much. I ask you to visit His Grace and I ask that you love my dear brother there, and through that, you will also be able to serve His Grace boldly. And I myself, old, and Zawisza, will unworthily pray to the Lord God for all [...], wishing also that all the Tatars, those dogs, break their necks, and that the household may celebrate safely,

celebrate, so that peace may finally come to the hosts, God grant. [...] the soldiers of His Grace the Chancellor themselves [...] are pushing into those lands and I think that they themselves [...] would descend, so that they themselves [...] royal and private goods, may the devil take them there [...], which will stir up anger. I, with my whole heart, have protected the subjects on both sides and in peace [...]. Furthermore, my brothers can study a little bit that patent for the officialis office, sent by [...] the Bishop, with certain due authorizations. With thanksgiving, I surrender myself to the grace of my dear and beloved Brother, His Grace, and I pray for health for your spouse [...]. In Kyiv, January 19, 1636.
Your Grace's, my dear Brother's
brother and servant,
noble Aleksy Zarychta, acting Kyiv officialis, with my own hand.
[Postscript in a different hand at the bottom:]
[...] to the Lviv [...] greeting and for the New Year from your brother lords.

Reading notes
Letter from Aleksy Zarychta from Kyiv with New Year's greetings and mentions of personal/official matters (patent for the officialis office). In the inventory, the date was incorrectly read by OCR as 'P 8636', in reality, it is clearly: '1636'. The recipient (Wojciech Zimnicki) is known from the inventory and collection links; at the bottom of p. 3, there is a Latin postscript/recipient's note with a reference to Lviv ('Luoviensem').
