Translation / modern text
The sender refers to his previous letter of 13 October, in which he explained the goods sent from Amsterdam for the recipient on ships belonging to the castellan of Czernichów. The shipment was made at an unfortunate time: the ships and parcels encountered strong winds and storms at sea, in which several vessels were lost. By God’s favor, the goods were preserved and arrived safely in Gdańsk. Two of the recipient’s letters have reached him, one dated the 12th and the other marked “8bris” (October); he understands that the recipient is satisfied. He hopes the bad weather has passed and that the goods sent will arrive safely, and says the fine chairs and other goods will cheer the recipient. He hopes to offer his greetings in person in Warsaw during the Sejm. Dated Gdańsk, 4 November 1701.

Jaśnie Wielmożny Mnie Wielce Mości Panie Wojewoda, a Mój Mości Panie a Dobrodzieju.
Te jednak daj Boże szczęśliwie wszystko cudownie Pan Bóg zachował i rzeczy wcale stanęły we Gdańsku.
Listy dwa, jeden de dato12, drugi też8bris, doszły mnie od W. JWMści Dobrodzieja mego, w których ukontentowane serce JWMści Pana uznałem, ale już chwała Bogu „Morski kawałtura”[wyrażenie niepewne] ustąpił, dajsz Pan Bóg, i wysłane szczęśliwie przyjdą, i W. JWMści serce zasmucone [s.10:] pewnie przy takich chwalebnych krzesłach i galanteryjach uweselą się.
Czego już sam daj Pan Bóg za bytności mojej wkrótce w Warszawie podczas sejmu winszować będę, abym ten honor miał żebym os. mógł kłaniać W. JWMści Panu, któremu ad interim moje najniższe oddawszy usługi zostawam.
We Gdańsku, die4 9br. A°1701.
JWMści Pana a Dobrodzieja mój najniższy sługa, Heinrich Gottlieb von Dorne.
Reading notes
The date notation “9br.” is read as November, consistent with the archival unit title; it is not September. The uncertain phrase about the sea is retained in the transcription without an invented expansion. The letter says the author intends to visit Warsaw during the Sejm; it does not confirm that the visit took place. “Galanterie” is kept as a general term for goods; no complete itemized list is available.
