Translation / modern text
The sender refers to his letter of 24 July, in which he mentioned several items to be purchased in Holland for the recipient. He has placed the orders and expects them to arrive soon. [The passage about delivery and the intermediary’s surname is unclear.] He thanks the recipient for kindly mentioning him in a letter to Mr [surname uncertain] and for his favorable regard, and recommends himself to that goodwill in future. He then reports current grain prices: rye, 270–290 per last; wheat, 350–400; barley, 140–150; buckwheat, 150–180; and oats, 65–70. [The currency sign is uncertain; the unit is not repeated for the other grains.] A comparison with earlier prices or quantities is illegible. The sender expects prices to rise if rye does not arrive from Poland, although foreign correspondents report good new harvests and falling prices elsewhere. [The effect on the Gdańsk market is unclear.] He asks for instructions about how much grain the recipient intends to send in the coming [period uncertain]. Dated Gdańsk, 22 September 1699.

Reading notes
Read directly from the scans. The listed prices are transcribed without conversion to modern measures or currency. The currency and exact size of a last are not established, and a single unit has not been automatically assigned to every item. “Tatarka” is rendered as buckwheat here, as a grain named in the price list; no conversions have been made. Some words about the season, deliveries, and names remain uncertain. The inventory description does not mention grain prices. The address does not name the voivode, so no name has been supplied based on knowledge of officeholders.
