Translation / modern text
Most esteemed Mr Forbes, my benefactor!
Just as the Lord God embraces all matters in His providence, even the greatest, and governs, orders and establishes them according to His will, so He does not overlook even the smallest. Thus also in my house this unchanging divine will and providence [unread phrase], preparing my Katarzyna to enter holy matrimony.
Katarzyna, greeting you all warmly in my name and commending her humble services to you, humbly invites you to show her your kindness and favour. I too respectfully ask that you not decline, but come on 24 February, that is, on Sunday. Whatever services she has so far been unable to render you, she will be ready to make up for.
Commending myself to your kindness, I remain your affectionate servant, Katarzyna Gruszewiczowa.
Jarosław, 18 February 1686.
[Address:] To Mr Arthur Forbes, merchant and burgher of Kraków, my benefactor; to be delivered in Lviv.

Reading notes
All three pages were inspected. One letter with an address, without a copy; the search for earlier records found only catalogues. In the original the bride is called “Służbistą moię Katarzynę”; her identification as a daughter comes from the archival description on the cover. The bridegroom’s name is not given. Independent checking of original page 2 did not resolve the phrase after Prowidencya; it is marked as uncertain rather than presented as complete. The main sense of the invitation and both dates are legible. The original describes Forbes as a burgher of Kraków but explicitly gives delivery “in Lviv”; municipal status has not been confused with current address. The letter announces a wedding, not proof that it took place. The dates 18 and 24 February were read from the handwriting, not merely the cover.
