Translation / modern text
[P. 7]
My dearly beloved Forbes, Your Grace, my Lord and Brother!
I earnestly request – although I have learned [...] – to send the document to His Grace Mr. Arthur regarding the Lviv Jewish elders, who owe as much as 300 florins. Please, let His Grace Arthur not release them from Jarosław until they pay, even if it requires giving 100 florins from that amount as a fee. He has already ceded to one [...] he will return, they will return, he will place.
Your Grace's entirely devoted brother and humble servant,
Krzysztof Krause,
by his own hand.
Given in Kraków, on the 26th of August, 1626.
[P. 8, Address:]
To His Grace Mr. Robert Forbes, my brother

Reading notes
Pencil pagination on the sheet: p. 5 (and at the bottom: K. 55(c)). On p. 8, there is an address in French to Robert Forbes ("Mon Frere") and a trace of a wax seal. The inventory lists Arthur Forbes as the recipient, however, the letter is addressed externally to Robert Forbes, and Arthur ("His Grace Mr. Arthur") appears in the body of the letter in the context of collecting the debt (300 florins) from the Lviv Jewish elders.
