Translation / modern text
[P. 2]
From Warsaw, [...] December 1696.
Monseigneur.
I offer my homage and respect, as at this time, when custom itself dictates that one should hasten with the applause of well-wishes, I too, being in so many respects indebted to your Illustrious House, dare to congratulate both of you, my Lords, on these auspicious days and the coming new year, wishing you an uninterrupted course of all prosperity. May you live for the Fatherland, for your Family, and for us, to whom you belong, as a fortress, an ornament, and a comfort; and do not cease to keep me, who am submissive to you, in your full grace and protection, as I am with all my heart
Your Graces' my Gracious Lords' loving Brother and Humble Servant
Jan Krasiński of Krasne, Voivode of Płock, by my own hand
His Grace the Voivode of Volhynia
[P. 3]
[Address:]
To His Excellency the Most Illustrious Lord Voivode of Volhynia

Reading notes
A letter with greetings for Christmas and the New Year. In the date header, there is the letter 'd' (perhaps an abbreviation for 'die' or an uncertain digit, e.g., 7) with a clear space before 'Xbris 1696'. In the inventory, the author is incorrectly identified as the Voivode of Polotsk (in reality, Jan Bonawentura Krasiński was the Voivode of Płock). The recipient is Jan Stanisław Jabłonowski, the then-Voivode of Volhynia (later of Ruthenia). On p. 3, a wax seal is preserved under the paper.
